Day 60: 10 January 2011

What is in this photo: Swoop changing a light bulb

Why I like this photo: I saw this blown light bulb today and thought "What can I do with that?". Then I saw Swoop. Then I saw my pad. the lego zombie one at christmas was the first time I'd done this sort of mixy sketchy background thing, and I really enjoed it. And I really enjoyed it this time too.

Oh, and by and large my perspective on the room kinda worked out pretty well.

Day 59: 9 January 2011

What is in this photo: A casual monarch

Why I like this photo: I was outside talking on my phone and saw him sitting there so ran in and got my camera. I like that he looks as if he's just about to take off. I like that he strikes enough of a sillouhette that he looks almost in shadow, but there's enough color that he's recognisably a Monarch.

Day 58: 8 January 2011

What is in this photo: The neighbour's kitten

Why I like this photo: I know, pictures of the cat on the internet: total cliche. But look at him! So cute! And the picture isn't at all blurry!

Day 57: 7 January 2011

What is in this photo: some tomatoes

Why I like this photo: I like this photo because it represents different achievements. I think that it is, on it's on, quite a nice photo. All the right things are in focus, and I think it's balanced quite well (given that I know very little of photographic theory). But aside from that, Rach and I have grown these from a cutting. And we haven't killed them! Hooray!

Day 56: 6 January 2011

What is in this photo: some nuts.

Why I like this photo: This photo is not of one of us looking dead tired from the flight from England to Kuala Lumpur. Honestly, it was this or something very embarassing. And I only took this one because I was tired and silly. I suppose that the peanuts looking kinda appettising.

Day 55: 5 January 2011

What is in this photo: A train station

Why I like this photo: This was the last station that we caught a train from on our trip. We didn't originally plan to go to it; we caught the wrong train to Heathrow and had to switch - the right one was only 2 minutes behind (it's a matter of terminals you see). I think it captures the story quite well.

Day 54: 4 January 2011

What is in this photo: Fishy wall knockers

Why I like this photo: I like the way that this framed up, that there is the close up detail in the foreground, then a repeat view of the whole thing in the background. Also, these knockers were particularly fishy, the weren't even on doors!

Day 53: 3 January 2011

What is in this photo: The Bates Motel sign at Madame Tussuads.

Why I like this photo: The Hitchcock room was really something. Everything was understated and yet completely had a hitchcockian feel. Looking at this photo I feel even more like I'd stepped into the movie than when I was infront of the sign. And that's even though I know that the branches shouldn't be there.

Day 52: 2 January 2011

What is in this photo: A street lamp

Why I like this photo: England has given me so much oppurtunity to practise taking photos in a much darker light. I saw this lamp and thought "that's going to look really nice at night-time" and then waited till we passed it again in the dark and took the photo.

Day 51: 1 January 2011

What is in this photo: A park bench

Why I like this photo: I thought when I took it that I would like this photo, and then it turned out that I reallly liked it. It frames the subject nicely and then there's a sense of mystery about it from the colours. I threw it in to photoshop and desaturated it a little, just to really make it look so close to being in soft black and white without losing a feel for the colours that are there.

Day 50: 31 December 2010

What is in this photo: a Glacier Mint

Why I like this photo: I really like how clear and...glacial glacier mints are. They way they are so much like a block of ice but not cold.
