Day 76: 26 January 2012

What is in this photo: A Lego Butcher

Why I like this photo: This little fellow is from the latest set of blind packed Lego minifigures. I think he looks like Hilary Bris from The League of Gentleman; which makes him hillariously funnny, and quite creepy too.

Day 75: 25 January 2012

What is in this photo: Collected edition of a Ratchet & Clank comic series

Why I like this photo: Okay, so there is absolutely nothing artistic about this. I was just super excited to find this even existed. Really nice read so far, all the dialogue sounds like the characters that they are supposed too.

Day 74: 24 January 2012

What is in this photo: A burger from Carl's Jr.

Why I like this photo: This is, artisically, more about the tools than the content. My camera has a special setting called "Gourmet", that is supposed to take natural and beautiful pictures of food. I was intrigued by the irony of using to take a photo of the exact opposite type of food than the setting was designed for.

Day 73: 23 January 2012

What is in this photo: A bee on a clover

Why I like this photo: I enjoy the challenge of trying to take photos of bees. They are always buzzing about and being flighty. I just like that I managed to actually capture him sitting there.

Day 72: 22 January 2012

What is in this photo: Some grafitti on the road

Why I like this photo: It's just a little odd. I don't know who wrote "SOURS" across the road, it just appeared there one day. And it stayed. It might even still be there.

And why "SOURS", of all the things to write? I enjoy the mystery much to much to find out anything more about it.

Day 71: 21 January 2012

What is in this photo: A bird on the telephone wire

Why I like this photo: I just really like the lines across, dividing at different angles. I like the positioning on the bird. I just like the way that the different angles of the crosslines sort of make the photo a little bendy, that it sort of changes the perspective and it stops looking completely rectangular.

Day 70: 20 Januay 2012

What is in this photo: A bunch of photos

Why I like this photo: This a pile of joy; a pile of embarassment; a pile of history; a pile of memories. It is the story of a family, on my living room floor.

Day 69: 19 January 2012

What is in this photo: Daisy in the grass

Why I like this photo: I really like the way that the daisy is fuzzy and yet the grass in focus. It's the wrong way round than it should be, and it makes eye feel a little odd. I like that a simple picture can cause such a physical reaction.

Day 68: 18 January 2012

What is in this photo: My current favourite blanket

Why I like this photo: The story behind the purchase of this blanket is a little involved, so I'm not going to tell it now. The story behind this photo is simply that I haven't had a chance to take a photo yet today, I've just got in and it's bed time.

Day 67: 17 January 2012

What is in this photo: Hiro Nakumura!

Why I like this photo: I moved Hiro the other day, just because I needed to put something else in the space where he was. So I just put him on one of DVD shelves so he was out of the way. I only noticed today that he's actually in front of "Heroes" box set! Either he teleported it there, or I'm subconciously as geeky as I'm conciously.

Day 66: 16 January 2012

What is in this photo: A section of a mural

Why I like this photo: I thought that there was purely reflective parts to this mosiac; but it turned out that they where actual glass that went all the way through the wall. It wasn't until I saw the refractive flare reviewing this photo in camera that I saw it. I like it purely for the surprise it gave me.

Day 65: 15 January 2012

What is in this photo: My plasma globe

Why I like this photo: Plasma globes are fasciniating. The constant movement, the way that we can control something that seems so random and give direction simply by touching it. I like this photo as it captures some of the mystery and motion of the plasma globe in a still image.

Day 64: 14 January 2012

What is in this photo: A very hungry caterpillar

Why I like this photo: This is about learning to use the macro function more effectively, and not ending up with just bunches of fuzzy pictures and two or three that worked out. Also, my small second cousin was very excited to show me the caterpillars, and when I asked her questions about them she got all of them right, which was very cute.

Day 63: 13 January 2012

What is in this photo: Melted cola bottle lollies

Why I like this photo: This was my great folly of today (and a sort of a repeat of a folly from last year); I left some loolies on the backseat of the car and they melted. Curiousity lead to putting it in the fridge to set in order to see what it tasted like (incidentally, delicious). I like the way that light plays through the different colours here, but mainly I like the way that through pure luck it actually kinda looks like a glass of cola that's been knocked over.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Day 62: 12 January 2012

What is in this photo: Lego Lighthouse Island

Why I like this photo: Have been planning this photo all day, using a bunch of elements from around my house to try and make something that doesn't look like part of my house. I like how it worked out in the end.

Day 61: 11 January 2012

What is in this photo: Slow exposure yahtzee

Why I like this photo: I like slow exposure for the sort of ghost effect, but I like that here it sort of captures the frenentic energy that Yahtzee can stir up. It's a quick game that's constantly on the move.
